SW 29-2 which frame?

Could anyone please tell me what frame the SW 29-2 has? Is it stamped any where? Thanks.

  If you are asking because you want to change grips, the 29-2 should have Square Butt grips.

  Spring Creek is correct. If you remove the grips, I believe you should find an "N" stamped on one side of the frame at the bottom.

  I think the 'N' on the grip frame means that the gun was factory Nickel.

  I never thought of that, rballi. The only other place I've seen an "N" was on the back side of the cylinder between chambers -that stand for nickel too? If so, maybe there isn't a frame designation on the gun.

  Smith's large frames are called N frame. The medium/large (ie. 586/686) are L frame, medium (ie. 19/66) are K frame and small (ie. 36 or 60) are J frame.
  rballi, I think you'll find the N stamped on blue guns too, designating the frame not the finish.

  Yes it is a "N" frame , and those answers are correct , S&W has not ever marked the "nickle" or blue guns as such , you will find several various marks (numbers and letters) in various (mostly hidden - under
  grips ect.)on most of thier revolvers , they did make most blue models
  in nickle and also in stainless , althought the stainless has a different model number (same gun) than the blue -example , the "N" frame 44 mag (blue) is a model 29 and in stainless it a 629 , ect.
  also you may find variuos marks (numbers and letters) inside the crane
  (under the rear of the barrel - cylinder out), a lot of "Unknowing"
  gun types think these are the serial numbers , not always so !!!!!!

  OPEN THE CYLINDER, AND YOU WILL SEE, RIGHT NEXT TO THE
  SERIAL NUMBER EXAMPLE... N12345667 N=N FRAME.
