    Yes , 1970's sounds right , I bought one (new) from a "mart" type store in 1978 for $99.00 (sale price $$$)...used it for years as a
    basic hunting gun , never a problem , then I went to the Mossberg
    500 series line and have used them ever since...

    this is the same as the NOBEL pump shot gun, (S&W bought them in the late 60's). basicly a cheap gun, use them until they break then 'parts' them out.

    I have a 916 in 20 ga and the big fault with it is the single action(side?)bar.Lets the forearm wiggle all over the place.But for less than a $100, what can I expect?
