where too measure from on shotgun

where do you measure from when cutting off a shotgun barrell? i have a old 410 single shot that i want too cut the barrell off at approx 18 1/2" ,is it from the breech face or the end of the shell?thanks in advance ,keep on bangin boys,don

  You are supposed to measure from inside where the barrel is flush into the receiver.I would measure from the outside where the barrel meets the receiver and measure it to 18 1/2" that way you would be covered by about an extra inch.
