reloading shotshell need help
I am trying to reload the 16 ga Winchester Super X game load hulls have any of you tried these yet?
Factory load was 1oz #8 2.5 dram.
I have a ton of these hulls and the only wad I can get my hands on are the remington SP16. Where can I find a load for these? I've tried to use the 19gr of unique load that works in the Win AA hulls but the wad sits WAY too deep. WTH can I do?
ANY help would greatly be appreciated.
thanks
You are what you eat? I guess I'm a beaver!

You might try this http://www.hodgon.com/data/shotshel/index.htm
there are formulas for win Compression hulls using Rem SP16 wads.
Good luck.

i know this going too sound really funny but it works great .just drop in a navy bean or two too bring the shot column up too where it gives you a nice crimp.when you fire the shell the shot will crush the beans too powder from the setback.an old guy i used too buy supplies from taught me this old timers trick and it works really well.keep on bangin boys ,don 0 -
I have not tried this wad yet but if the SP16 wad sits to low, put 20ga cork or fiber wads in the shot cup to bring it up to crimp height.I bought a set of the cheap chineese gasket/hole punches for about 5.00 and I use cork from the craft or fabric store to punch out my own wads, same stuff they use for bullitin boards works fine either1/8 or1/4 inch also carboard works. I use a cardboard overshot card to get good crimps.

If you simply wish to raise the shot column to ensure a good crimp, the methods suggested above will do the job. If you are concerned about keeping the shot within the plastic fingers of the shot cup, you will need to raise the cup. I've done this by adding overpowder wads. However, this has the potential to affect chamber pressure so you will need to proceed quite carefully. Frankly, the ideas presented before are safer and easier, although they may result in somewhat more open patterns. 0 -
I use to load 16 ga also and those damn rem wads is all i had too. I think they are the only ones who make 16 gauge wads. i cant really remember what i loaded but let me see if i can find out. 0
