Ar-15 "Lite"?

I keep seeing ads for Lite ARs, such as Hesse, Oly and DPMS Panther Lite. What is the quality like on these rifles? What does one give up to save 2-3 pounds?

  The barrel is 16" and of a thin profile.
  I like them,but they are not for Full Auto fire as they will heat up too quickly.On semi,they are fine.
  Right now I am cutting and turning down some 20" A2 barrels to 18" LtWt.
