9mm Largo Reloadable cases

Does anyone know of a source for these cases? The imported ammo I'm now using in my Star Super cannot be reloaded.Thanks.

    There are so damn many names for these European cartridges . . . no wonder I never bothered to collect the damn things . . . but in any case, I think this is another name for the 9mm Browning Long - case length roughly .795", very blunt round nose bullet profile? If so, according to my conversion references, you can make the brass by cutting back .38 ACP / .38 Super brass. This stuff was never made in the US, to my knowledge, so the odds of finding factory brass w/ Boxer pockets is slight to none.

    Thanks for the info but although I reload a lot, I've never gotten into the more complicated end of it such as cutting back cases. The dealer where I purchased the Star Super assured me that I could fire 38 Super rounds in it even though the gun and barrel were clearly marked 9mm Largo. Well, I may not be bright but I'm not stupid and I found a source of non-corrosive 9mm Largo ammo on the Internet. Made in 1977 in Spain - haven't had any problems with it - works fine. I also purchased the last box Midway had of 9mm Largo in CCI Blazer but the price was ridiculous. I do own a 38 Super also and reload it with varying results - ejection-wise.

    I've got quite a bit of the CCI FMJ 9mm Largo on hand. It is non-corrosive, but not reloadable. As for shooting the .38 Super in your Star... First, it probably won't fit the breach face, the head is slightly bigger on the .38 Super. Second, the Super is quite a bit hotter than the Largo. The gun isn't meant to handle .38 Super with the standard spring that they come with. If you down loaded the cartridges, you'd be ok. At the same time, you'd need to trim the heads of the cases slightly. Either that or open up the breach face of the gun. The other option is to replace the barrel with a 9mm Luger (parabellum, 9x19mm) barrel. I have found the "drop-in" barrels will sometimes need some serious fitting.

    If you use .38 Super cases you have to trim down the rims a bit until they fit the bolt face.If you can find 9m/m magnum cases it's just a matter of trimming down the cases.Starline Brass has cases for the 9m/m Largo you will find them at Midway.

    I HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE WITH THE STAR M-SUPER AND 9MM LARGO. YES YOU CAN SHOOT .38 SUPERS IN MOST OF THEM, BUT YOU SHOULD INSTALL A STRONGER RECOIL SPRING. IF YOU CAN FIND ANY .38 AUTO AMMO THIS WORKS WELL AS IS. AS FOR RELOADABLE BRASS, JUST USE THE .38 SUPER (OR .38 AUTO/ACP) (NOT THE .380 AUTO/ACP). THE RIM ON THE .38 SUPER/AUTO IS LARGER THAN THE 9MM LARGO BUT I HAVEN'T SEEN A STAR M-SUPER THAT WON'T SHOOT THEM. OR YOU CAN JUST REBARRLE FOR THE 9MM LUGER, FAC JUST RAN A SALE ON BARRELS FOR LESS THAN $50 PPD

    Thanks Mike Whiskey - I'm reloading 38 Supers now for another gun I have so I have plenty of brass. I can't find any reloading data on 9mm Largo in The Lee Modern Reloading book. Any idea how many grains of what powder with what weight bullet makes a comfortable shooting load? Or can I simply use the powder & bullet weight data contained in this book for reloading the .38acp (not Super)?
    I really appreciate the info you gave me - it solves a big problem I've been having since I bought my Star Super.

    capecod,I have two Star Super 9m/m Largos and they will not chamber .38 Supers.(maybe yours will) Here is an address that will tell you everything you want to know about the 9m/m Largo it's address is www.9mmlargo.com/index.htm I have had my Stars since 1993.I also have a Spanish Destroyer 9m/m Largo rifle and a Astra model 1923 IN 9 M/M Largo.Hope this HELPS.

    I'm not very familiar with the Largo but isn't it the same as the 9X23? If so, Midway (and others) have brass.
