14 Ga. Pinfire Round
Friend of mine just found a 14 Gauge Pinfire shotgun shell. It is blue in color and is stamped " Eley Brothers" and "London" on it. It is fired. Does anyone know if this would have any value to a collector. It is in very good condition as it's been inside since being fired from what he says. Thanks. Russ

Russ, a fired one is worth something, but not a lot. New primed empties typically go $3 each at retail. I'm not that conversant w/ shotshells of any kind, so it's possible that this color in the Eley headstamp is something unusual, but I doubt it. 0 -
Thanks for the info. I will pass it along to my friend. Russ 0 -
It sounds like one of the special shells for the shotguns used by the India police back in the 1890's. They're selling the "modified" shotguns in Sportsmans Guide pretty cheap. The reason for the pinfire and odd caliber is so that if a convict stole a gun; he'd have no way to load 12 ga. ammo in it.
If you know it all; you must have been listening.WEAR EAR PROTECTION!0
