when I started pistolsmithing 20 years ago, "Hallock's Handbook" was the Bible for the 1911 smith. He was a match armorer for one of the services, and published a detailed booklet on the 1911 pistol. It has a wealth of info on every aspect of identification, maintenance, and match modifications. I have'nt looked at the manual for years, since I have been practicing what was written, but evry so often I need to check some detail. I believe that Brownell's still sells the booklet.
    Worth it's weight in gold!

Ken Hallock is a good friend of mine. He has built ten 1911's for me over the years and all are great shooting, reliable pistols. Most of them will shoot sub 1" 25 yd groups. I have owned custom pistols from Wilson,Baer, Brown, Swenson, etc. and the Hallock pistols will shoot with them all. Ken has retired and not taking any more work although I'm trying to get him to do one more.

He did say that he may do a follow up on his book. Maybe with his retirement that will come to pass.

A Hallock built Colt or Springfield will bring $1000 to $1300. Most will have Kart NM barrel, BoMar adj. sight, fitted slide to frame, beavertail grip safety, great trigger job. etc.

Well you just described it pretty good. On top of what you mentioned shooter, it has a king trigger, the grip is stippled on front and back, and it has Bomar adjustable sights. Thanks for all of the input. If you can think of anything else, please let me know.
GOOD LUCK AND GOOD SHOOTING !!!!!!!!!!
