I have 4 glock 17's that I use for competition. They are all pre finger grooves and rails and have thousands of rounds through them. They still shoot good groups. Are you using the same ammo in both guns? Your glock should still shoot good after 4000 rds. I once saw a mdl 17 that was owned by the factory and had 50,000+ rds through it and was still running good. Iam a Glock armorer, but without looking at the gun, I cannot solve your problem. Contact Glock, they should be able to help.
    Good luck -Joe-

Yes, I'm using the same ammo, reloads. Are you using all factory parts or have you changed out some. I think the Sheriffs dept has one or two armors I'll have them look at it. Thanks

This may not be the cause, but I have seen it before after thousands of rounds.Your Guide rod might be worn out,The Barrel needs to take the exact same movement each time to be accurate. When your guide rod wears this does not happen.Critics of the Beretta 92 claim the gun could be more accurate,if the open style Barrel were encased to make it shoot to the same point of Aim each time.I would ask Glocks customer service to send me a new guide rod,or Wolfe offers a recoil rod for the glock that they claim is better.I have no experience with it so I cant say,but I have bought their springs and been well satisfied. If it were me I would stick to the factory guide rod.Assuming your Barrel is not worn out.And the only ruint Glock Barrels Ive seen have had lead Bullets shot through them.

    Best!!

I'll just mention that if you use reloads, accuracy can be affected by using different brand or weight of components than before. Even a new can of the same powder from a different lot may react differently. Your barrel may have lead or copper build up, even if your bore looks clean. My brother's 19 recently began keyholing after a few thousand rds. We shoot lead and FMJ and he cleans often. Using a Foul Out kit we got globs of lead and copper in the solution and had to run the system 4 times before it came completely clean. We haven't had a chance to test fire yet. Look down the barrel and if the raised rifling looks square, you probably have build up. They should look like an upside-down V.

I think if you'd invest in a Wilson barrel and fit it properly to your slide, you'll notice a drastic increase in accuracy. I did.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

First, let me say that I find Glocks the undisputedly ugliest pistols in the world, and wouldn't own one; but I lean towards Oneshy's response.
CLEAN that barrel! If that (to you) means wetting a patch with Hoppes No. 9 and sloshing it back & forth 4-5 times, then running a dry patch to remove all your fouling; try Barnes, Sweet's, or Hoppes No. 9 Benchrest and let it sit in the barrel over night (in case your problem is laziness), and try swabbing it out in the morning. Another quick method is to lubricate the bore with oil or solvent and pass a patch smeared with JB Bore cleaner paste on it back & forth about 12 times end-to-end and see if that don't help!
Gaston's bastard child works just fine when it's clean.

If you know it all; you must have been listening.WEAR EAR PROTECTION!

Smokeeater: I neglected to inquire into whether or not you are using lead or jacketed ammo. Glock states that only jacketed ammo should be shot in their guns. Glocks do not use regular rifling as other guns, instead of lands and grooves, glocks have a roll type rifling, It is called polygonal, and makes for a tighter bullet to barrel seal.
Glock also states that reloaded ammo will void your warranty.
I shoot factory PMC, CCI Blazer, Federal and winchgester 115 grain or 124 grain. Try some of these and see if your accuracy improves.
    Good luck -Joe-

I haven't had time to try any of the good ideas that I've gotten here. My best friend just got a new liver yesterday after waiting about 4 years. He is doing great. I use jacketed bullets. I will try re-cleaning the barrel; it's easy to do. I was holding off switching parts from new 17 to old 17 till I found out if it might be one part or lots of things needing changed. I'll try switching the Guide rod. I have been using the same weight, type and make of bullets all along. I can't afford to use factory ammo all the time. It's the same batch of ammo that I used in both guns. Glock's are NOT "the undisputedly ugliest pistols in the world". I use the #9 copper solvent, I'll let it sit and scrub it a lot more. I hope I have responded to all questions. Thanks for the ideas. I'll let you know how it turns out after I have time to get out and shoot.
