BENELLI gods,experts,gunsmiths... I NEED HELP!!!!
Gentlemen,
About a year ago, I purchased a Benelli M1 super 90; and untill yesterday, I have yet to shoot it. Is it normal for these firearms to not cycle with cheap ammunition? I bought a case of federal 12ga multipurpose shells and almost every single one failed to cycle. How do I go about fixing this and what dollar amount am I looking at? The firearm was extremely clean and lubricated before the incident. Also, I took with me about a dozen slugs and each one cycled properly.
thanks,

OPERATOR: I have 3 Super 90's that I use in 3 gun competition. These guns usually need 100+ rnds through them for "break-in". After that they will still need fairly stout shells for reliable cycling.
They wont work well with less than 1 ounce loads. Dont use any of the 7/8 oz loads as they will not cycle the gun. If you buy 1 1/8 oz loads with Dram Eq of 3 or higher, they should work. I like the Winchester Heavy Target loads with 1 1/8 oz of 7.5 shot with a 3 dram eq.
If you have a side saddle on the shotgun, that could be a problem if it is the type that is mounted with a screw thru the reciever. If it is overtightened just a little, it will bind the reciever enough to slow the bolt speed, which will cause jams.
Good luck, -Joe-0
