Can someone PLEASE find this rifle for me?
I am looking for a Remington 700 VSSF, in 220 Swift, WITHOUT THE BOLT LOCK (green piece of crap) located at the rear of the bolt. My books state that the 220 swift was added to this model in 1996, and I am pretty sure remington wasn't installing the locks that year. I would like one NIB if at all possible. Let me know prices and location. I have checked the auctions and can't find one in either configuration. there was one a month or so ago, but the sellers info wasn't complete enough for me to contact them and ask about the lock, so, before I could get back to it, it was gone. Thanks to anyone who may help.

JustC it might be helpful to post this on the Wanted Board, there are some different folks looking at that board that have things to sell. Good Luck! If you run across a H&R 300 Ultra in .243 or .308, let me know.

Should be an easy find.
use search at the following auctions, Type in different words such as REMINGTON 700, REMINGTON, VARMINT.
G U N B R O K E R. C O M
A U C T I O N A R M S. C O M
G U N S A M E R I C A. C O M
Also, for 17.00 at brownells you can buy the old style bolt plug brand new, And replace it with the new style, And then sell the bolt plug that has the crappy saftey built in on a auction site.

AHH, thanks for the new angle to look into hotrodusa. Do they sell the old style bolt plug in stainless?

justc, I dont think much of that new saftey feature either.
And it sure is ugly.
yes brownells has the old style stainless bolt plug. Call them at 641-623-4000 and ask to verify. Also email them at www.brownells.com and ask them if they have it and if its in stock, Price, and part #
Also different angle: Find a gun shop that does gunsmith work in your area, Tell him you want to buy a gun from him but you want it with the old style bolt plug, If he wants your business he will order the gun you like and put the old style bolt plug on it for next to no aditional costs. Not a very big job. The tool that removes the bolt plug assambly out of the bolt is a cheap plastic tool by remington, costs about 6.00 at a remington gun shop.
