What is "Good" condition? If NRA Good, then it's not so good. One man's good is another man's "real nice". That's why the growing tendency has been to grade firearms by the percentage of original finish remaining. The particular rifle you are interested in has a lot of variables: In 100% condition it is worth $2,900, in 98% it's worth $2,250, 95% $1,150, 80% $1,000, 50% $700, Add 50% for Deluxe Models, Add 25% for octagon barrel, Add 15% for takedown model. This is for a rifle with a 24-28 inch barrel. The carbine model, with a 22 inch round barrel, starts at $3,000 for 100% is still worth $1,000 at 60%, and goes for $375 at 10% (which might be stretched to fit into the definition of NRA Good). So........what have you got? Give us a precise description and we'll give you a precise answer. 0 -
in NRA excellant a win 1895 in .30-40 krag is worth $3000.00, adding another 10% for US gov. markings, and another 15% for a takedown model. the carbines are woth a little less(exept those with US gov. markings). they were made from 1895-1931, and have a huge collectors following. a great gun to shoot or collect, as long as it has retained all of its original pieces/parts, and the stock is unaltered/uncut. the onset of the popularity of cowboy action shooting is slowly driving up the prices of all older leverguns.

Thanks for the replies so far. I will take the rifle to a gunsmith and let him grade it for me. It does have govt markings on it. It has a rubber recoil pad on the butt and some inlays on the wood and also looks as if the rear sight has a white (ivory?) diamond on it. The rifling looks great, everything is tight. I am by no means a grader of weapons. But thanks for the info. 0
