Have an opportunity to purchase one of the above for a greatly reduced price (owed money); which is the better rifle for hot,dry climate with occasional dust storms at medium range against small furry animals?
Also, which are better made for longevity-Imbel, metric, inch?

Go with the stg58, you wont be disappointed. they are accurate, reliable, and have readily available parts. while this is true to some extent for the other rifles you mentioned also, the STG outshines them all. I prefer imbel recievers, and it seems most of the people i talk to do also. no matter which rfile you choose, however, youll have an excellent battle rifle with a powerful chambering. good luck 0 -
Different variations of the same gun (FN/FAL). All were 'probably' made up from parts kits. Unless you can find one with an OEM or DSA receiver go with the Imbel. Metric parts are much more plentiful and as a general rule cheaper.

There's a good post on choosing a battle rifle in the general discussion forum right now you might want to read. They are all good rifles, but as mentioned, probably made up from parts kits. Without seeing them, or having more info it would be hard to say which to choose. If they are parts kit guns and the Imbel is put together using an Imbel receiver and an Imbel parts kit, I'd probably lean towards the Imbel. If the inch L1A1 was put together using an inch receiver, that may make me change my mind. Then again, for the conditions you describe, the H&K might be a very nice choice. And there's nothing wrong with the STG-58. So much would depend on the condition of the particular guns....
