Magazine conversion
I recently purchased a Beretta 96D with a post ban 10 rd. mag. and was wondering if it can be converted to an 11 rd. mag just by trimming the length of the follower. It seems too simple so I figure there must be a catch. Am I right?
Thanks

It's pretty illegal to convert a post ban magazine to hold more than 10 rounds.

ditto on what gravedigger said. if it ever gets to the point where you need 11 rounds, you'll know how to do it.

Thanks for the replies. It was sort of a rhetorical question because it seemed so simple to do that I figured there must be a catch and now I know what it is! 0 -
The simplest way to get an 11-round M96 magazine is to buy one of the many relatively inexpensive pre-ban 15-round M92 magazines around and load 11 rounds of .40 in it. True pre-ban 11-round M96 magazines are not really rare either, but cost substantially more than pre-ban M92 magazines.
The queston I have never had answered is whether loading more than 10 rounds of 9x19 in a post-ban 10-round M96 magazine (I have been told a post-ban 10-round M96 magazine will hold about 13 rounds of 9x19.) is "manufacturing a large capacity ammunition feeding device." Does the mere fact of loading the magazine with a different round constitute "manufacturing?"
"Pretty illegal." Is not that like a "little bit pregnant?"0
