I have my heart set on a Kimber 1911 .45. As of late I have seen a few Charles Daly 1911 .45's for a very decent price. Would I be happy with a Daly? Should I hold out a little longer in saving for that Kimber?

That's a question you could ask a dozen different people and get a dozen different answers. I think what it really boils down to is how much you plan to use the pistol, and how much you will actually depend on the pistol. If you are just looking for something to take out and shoot at some targets with, then I think the Charles Daly would be fine. If you are looking for a weapon you will depending on in crisis situations, then by all means go with a higher quality weapon.
My own experiance with Charles Daly has been exceptional. I own one and have run a few thousand rounds throu it with very few problems. But it only takes "one" problem at the wrong time and your history.
I'm kindof old fashioned anyway. I own a few nice automatic handguns, but it's the ol'reliable S&W mod 19 that sits in the nightstand.

Im with Weatherby on if its my ass being on the line wheel gun is what Im grabbing but if this will be your defense weapon go for the Kimber.Charles Daly's are good but not a Kimber by any means.Kimbers are top level handguns while Daly's are mid level bargains. If its your life on the line money is no object. If its just to shoot around and get familiar with the 1911 style .45 go for the Charles Daly.Just remember you get what you pay for.

Daly is perhaps the best of the "worst". Buy a real gun.
Pre 70 Colt or any Kimber. If you must budget yourself, as many,
an Argetine Systema 27 is a quality pistol. 101

If you've got your heart set on a Kimber, you probably won't be happy with a Daly.

Save up the extra $$$$ and get what you really want.

I agree with the rest of the guys on the Kimber. But Charles Daily are a good gun all the ones Ive seen shot, shoot well. Also KBI who imports CD offers a lifetime warranty on the guns.So that should put you at ease if you buy the Charles Daily.

    Best!

If you would indulge me for a minute concerning the purchase of a 1911 .45, I do not understand why someone would not buy a Springfield at $475 or a Kahr Auto Ordnance at $450 both of which appear to be well built 1911 models as opposed to a Charles Daly, Rock Island Armory, LLama, or other "cheap" 1911s which do not cost much less. Both of the first two seem well made, carry warranties from reputal makers, and have good reputations. Why would someone who wants a 1911 and can get a good one at around $475, take the risk of a headache to save $75 to $100?

BUY THE KIMBER For the extra money its worth it. I bought mine for under $600.00 new. Its the "best buy" for the "bottom of the line" model and you won't be sorry.

It should only take one !!!

Don't get impatient. Go ahead and keep saving for the kimber. Not that there's anything wrong with the CD, but if you want a kimber, get one. There's a big difference between the two, and the kimbers the better one.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.
