No Serial Number On Savage Model 24A????
I have an old Savage Model #24A 16 Gauge Shotgun, I can not find a serial number on this gun anywhere, is this possible. The gun is in excellent condition with very little wear any where. I pulled the fore arm and forearm from the gun an found no serial number anywhere??? Any ideas Booger

I'm not an expert on Savage firearms, but from 1968 back it wasn't a law that serial numbers had to be put on firearms. I know there were a lot of .22 rimfires made without serial numbers prior to that time, but don't know if there was a time Savage didn't use them. If there doesn't appear to be anyplace that numbers have been removed (such as grinding marks or depressions) that would be my guess.

MANY OF THE PRE-68 MODEL 24'S AND OTHER DO NOT HAVE A SERIAL NUMBER. JUST ENJOY.

I have an old model B Fox shotgun (made by Savage) and it doesn't have a serial number either. I guess Savage saved a few cents by not marking these older guns. 0
