what is the diffrence in the 1187 sp barrels compared to a standard 1187 barrel. i dont see any diffrence other than finish. they both seem to interchange with the other.

I own two 11-87's, a sporting clays model, and a special purpose synthetic. I haven't had problems with either one of them, as long as you keep them clean, and take proper care of them, put them back together correctly after dissasembly, they work great. I have friends that have them to, they seem to love them also.

Just a little piece of advice to pass on. I find that most of them time when a gun isn't working right, its directly related to the user of the gun.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

The sound of a 12 gauge pump clears a house fatser than Rosie O eats a Big Mac !

I have heard of more than one of the synthetic stocks cracking, especially during cold weather.

Cracks in any shotgun stock are also often directly related to users knot knowing proper care procedures. I have seen stock after stock crack because the owner thought he would be smart and use WD-40 on his gun. WD-40 ROTS WOOD!!! it penetrates and softens the grain at a very quick pace. Also, the so called "synthetic" stocks are often only injection molded plastics. These, as anything else of that origination, have week spots and less dense areas just like what they call "white metal".

A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.

I have three 11-87"s, which include the Sporting clays, and the super-mag..no problems with any of them. Mistakes I have noted include..not cleaning it FIRST..before using. They have a light coat of packing grease for shipping..if this is not cleaned first can cause problems...but like stated earlier...most errors occur from user error...especially when disassembly and reassemble operations..I teach students not to take it appart any further then u feel comfortable doing..also dont be afraid to ask questions especially when it involves proper usage and instruction..SAFETY FIRST..
