I have used the pyrodex pellets and like them. They seem absolutely reliable on ignition. The new Triple 7 is also highly touted with greater velocity without increased pressure. I know several guys that have tried it and will never go back. I am lazy so I will wait for it in pellets.

I have an Encore like yours. The Pyrodex Pellets have been 100% reliable since the start. I've heard that 777 powder is pretty good stuff but until they make it in pelletized form, I guess I'll stick with the Pyrodex Pellets. They are just to damn easy to use. Both of the deer couldn't tell the difference. Load was 2-50 grain and one 30 gr pellet behind a Barnes Red Hot 250gr copper hollow point. Maybe just a little more umph than needed, but it shoots great from my rifle..Penetration at 70 yards was complete.

I also have always used pyrodex pellets in my Encore with great success. I use 2-50 grain pellets with a TC pre-lube bullet. I also have taken the empty pyrodex tubes and cut them down to correct length to hold the two pellets and bullet so that all I do is pop the top dump the load and rod for a quick reload. Pyrodex is fast and easy. You bought the high tech gun, why not use high tech loads?

I also have a T/C Encore have used the pyrodex pellets also, but found I like the clean shot pellets better ,, for bullets I found that the PowerBelt bullets from CVA are really great!! try the 295 gr. HP they are a full 50 cal and really shot good and they are the easiest bullets to load for the 2nd or 3rd round or in cold temps

Did you buy the blue or SS Encore? I have the SS 209X50 and have found that I cannot get the second sabot down unless I brush between each shot. I have been told the blued is easier. That is why I love the prelubed hunter mags by TC. Each one slides down with ease without brushing. I have heard the powerbelts are great as well. The other nice thing about getting away from sabots is you regain the full .50 bore rather than .44 w/sabot.

hawkflyer: if you try the cva powerbelts you will fine that the you will not have to swab between shots , I've fired over a dozen shots in a row without swabing the bore using CleanShot and powerbelt bullets

    gskyhawk,

Yes, I have also had good success with the power belts. I use them for final sighting prior to season and then for deer season. But, I do find them to be expensive and the TC hunter mags are good fun. Buy the way, your ID implys falconry. Are you a falconer?
