Colt Defender 45 ACP

Has anyone had ANY problems with the Colt Defender 45? Have heard that ther are some feeding problems with this short of barrel. Any help appereciated. Thanks

  Short barrels increase the likelihood of limp wristing, lowered velocity or other exacerbations leading to a feeding problem. My understanding is that the new Defender Plus, as well as similar models from Kimber and possibly others, has a full size grip. This should help manage user-induced feeding problems or poor accuracy.

  I have owned a Defender for a couple of years now. Has never even thought about jams. And accuracy was outstanding too. I looked at the plus but right now I can't justify buying one YET. My advice to you is get the Defender and don't worry about the other compacts out there.

  I bought one when first introduced. Had a few failure to feed in the first 200 rnd. At 550 rnds it blew the reverse plug out. Sent it back to Colt and they had it back to me in TWO weeks. Have not had ANY problems since (about another 1600 rnds).

  I heard on another post a guy blew out the plug because of incorrect installation (Backwords spring) He said Colt fixed & paid him for his shipping even though it was his fault.
  Now thats customer service.
  I heard in other posts that there were issues with mag springs wearing out & recoil springs wearing out.
  That doesn't scare me & I will be picking up my new defender tomorrow.
  I know it takes Colt officers mags (been around for years)
  The aftermarket also makes mags springs.
  Have a buddy that has a kimber. He uses same recoil spring pack & after wearing out they were replaced with Wolff spring pack.
  I doubt that if their were real problems they would have come out with another defender at the shot show without changing design.

  It is a very nice pistol to start with. Gotta love them Slabside design pistole's. Right caliber, right defensive stuff.
