Quality of pre-ban DPMS AR-15?
I have the opportunity to purchase a preban LNIB DPMS AR-15 lower with a 20" upper with A2 sights, and all the pre ban goodies. Colt HBar barrel 1/7 twist for $995.Can anyone give me an idea of the quality of the preban DPMS rifles?Also I am looking to turn the lower on this rifle into a preban configured 16" pistol caliber carbine in 10MM,is there anything about DPMS mating with other manufacturer uppers that I should be wary of?Lastly,I've only seen a pic of the rifle and it sure does look New,however it seems to have metallic flakes in the finish on the upper/lower/pistol grip as well as the buttstock,is this a common finish on the DPMS prebans?
I can also get an OLympic Arms pre-ban 20" in excellent condition for around $1100,would this be a better deal?Thanks in advance for any/all help in this matter,Josey

The DPMS will be nice.
High quality and yes they will mate with any others except the odd Colt uppers with the large front hinge pin.
For that you will need the offset pin adapter.
If you don't get the DPMS I want it.
The Oly is worth the same amt.
Oly does make 10 mm uppers
I am not sure which mags are used in the conversion.

Olympic arms lost all paperwork on sales of pre-ban guns so if you call them to find out the the date and configuration of the gun when sold they can not tell you how it left the factory
And that information is what the batf wants
Question is do you think it is worth the hassel
Olympic can tell you approximate date of manafacture but that is all
