Which primers work best in Dillon 550 tubes?

??? Now, this is strange. Primers are supposed to be consistent sizes within very tight tolerances. I've never had occasion to use Federal, but have never noticed any dimensional differences with Winchester, CCI, Remington - nor the few RWS / Dominion I've used.

I put some Winchester primers thru the same tube and they moved freely up and down. Then I put the Federals back in the tube and they stuck to the walls of the tubes! They are in new packaging so I know they are not older primers. Just a little oversized, I guess. I will stick to Winchester unless someone has positive feedback on the CCI's. I also e-mailed Dillon to see if they have had other reports of oversized Federal primers.

Chris, I've loaded & shot a lot of ammo with CCI primers and never had any dimensional or performance problems with them.

SAME HERE, I'VE USED CCI'S IN MY DILLION (AS WELL AS REM. AND A FEW FED 215'S) WITH NO PROBLEMS.

Never had problems with Federal primers with my pickup tubes. Might be the Dillon pickup tube "out of concentricity".

used cci primers since the early 80's in 2 different Dillon loaders.
Could not even guess how many cartons, never a problem yet.
call Dillon back, and ask for Mike Dillon, bet he will help you.

I have a Dillon 650 and have only used CCI primers and have never had a problem. I will continue to use CCI as they are cheaper than the others and I've never had a problem loading them or shooting them.

Without the NRA, the second ammendment would already be gone!

I'm not suprised to hear of problems with federal primers. Regulars here will remember my STRONG dislike of Federal products.

I had some problems with CCI primers in my 550. Mostly high seating. Called dillon and was told that CCI are "harder" than most and I shold use Win.

Just switched from WLR's to Fed 210M's. Used 5000 WLR's no problems. Went to 210M's for more uniform ignition. Into the 7th box of 210M's now with no problems. Tighter groups by 40% though.
