Wards Western Field?

I have a tube fed, bolt action,.22 rifle marked "Wards Western Field 04M 491A" S L LR. It has a Monte Carlo stock and a rather beefy forend. The trigger guard is a large plastic or bakelite piece with formed finger grooves.The safety is under the bolt cap.There are two cap screws "parked" on the left rear of the bolt because a scope is not used. I was trying to cross reference this rifle using the list in back of Gun Parts Corp. catalog. but the info stopped short. Can I assume this is a Mossberg? It's more than 50 years old and is a real tack driver, also it was Dads and I'd like to keep shooting it. I would like to replace the firing pin and the bolt handle.Any advice?

  More than likely a Mossberg. The back of the trigger guard having finger grooves is a Mossberg design. As you probably noticed most of the Wards Western Fields were made by Mossberg. Although Savage , Stevens also made several models for Wards. My guess would still be Mossberg.
