i have a 1965 colt gov. that i have been told by experts value is from 500.00 all the way to 1200.00.it's like new cond #298,086c can someone give me a good est.

What cal ? what finish and what all does it say on the slide. 0 -
The "c" in the serial # indicates it's a commercial model. With no more info than you've given, I'd just about bet it's closer to the latter figure. 0 -
According to Blue book pg 414 22nd edition 100%= 850 down to 60%= 400
