You Gotta Hear This!!
Browning has come up with a new vision for all us Shotgunners. They call them the little Skeeter Gauge reducers. You insert them in the chamber of your shotgun, for example a 12Ga you can insert the Ga of your choice in the chamber A 10GA can shoot 12 and 20 GA shells.A 12GA can shoot a 20or28and.410 ammo you purchase the Skeeter GA of your choice, for about $50.00 bucks each.Reviews I have read say they work extremely well and a 12GA with a .410 Skeeter in the chamber is said to shoot an excellant group. The skeeter will function with any brand shotgun.Im assuming it has to be a single or over and under type shotgun.

I think it is the same thing. I found them in the master catalog but its the one from 2001. It is listed as "Little Skeeters Mini-Tube Gauge Reducers". If you click on that link it will take you to it on cabelas website. Its $35 for a pair or $100 for six which includes tubes for 20,28,and 410 ga.

It looks like you would lose velocity due to a short barrel length and I wonder how the choke (in the skeeter) would work. Anyway, very interesting, if anybody has tried these please let us know how they work. 0 -
I just typed in a whole bunch of stuff, but it looks like I did something wrong and lost it before it got sent.
This is a test. If it works I will try again.0 -
As they say "There is nothing new under the sun".
Many years ago there were sub-caliber tubes available to allow use of smaller gauge shells in single amd double shotguns (I believe they were made by Savage). A friend of mine had a .410 tube for use in a 12 gauge. As I recall it was about 12 or 18 inches long and relied on the choke in the 12 gauge to control the shot pattern.
I remember that I had once or twice tried shooting clay piegions with a .410 with very little success. However, with the .410 tube in a 12 gauge I was able to break clays fairly consistantly.0 -
I'd be very interested also if someone has used these and the performance results..dont think the barrell length would effect the velocity..but the patterning results would be interesting..sounds like a fun afternoon of shooting to get results.. 0 -
Nothing new,
Savage has been selling the .410/Tenner for years. About $65.00
use is in the .12 Ga for shooting .410 bore. The price for the
pair is $35.00. Pattern is terrible. Rugster once again has incorrect information. The Browning marketed jobs offer nothing for hunting. The choke determines the pattern. Yes, Cabella's fronts these. Yes, a viable alternative to shooting smaller bore in larger tubes. Never worked for me. My experience. 1010 -
The review I read in one of the gun magazines indicated the first step down in size, eg.12/20 20/28 generally work the best and provided reasonable patterns. It appeared that the wad fingers peeled back and filled the bore. In the larger step in guages (12-410)the wads could not seal the bore well enough to maintain decent pressure and patterns suffered. The 410/12 resulted in a very poor pattern (25-30%?). The indication was, don't bother with the gauges more than one step below what you are shooting. I think there are two different brands. I recall seeing some many years back at that $50 price. The latest ones are around $35 a pair. 0
