Help
I just bought a rifle from a non FFL holder here on gunbroker. My FFL is under the impression that the seller must send it through an FFL to him. Is this true? Or are rifles okay to send from non-FFL to FFL? Please include where to find proof to back up your reply, it's not that I don't trust you, it's that my FFL needs hard evidence.Thanks-

Any appinions on this rifle would be greatly appreciated.
My last message was a little short and i appoligize guys.
My son is left handed and we have been looking for a left handed bolt
action and have not had to much luck unless we buy new and by the time
we get all the goodys scope etc. about 700.00 range.Been to gun shows etc. etc. and no luck yet. This would be his first rifle and his first
year with a elk tag in his pocket. We did find this rem 760 today

or know any one that has. My son says he likes it and it feels right
although he has not shot it. Whats your appinion guys ?

IMHO .223 is a little light but I am not saying it won't work. To increase your chances of getting a deal on a rifle, you may want to also consider the .243. As far as scopes go, with a .223 or a .243 a straight 3X or 4X would probably be sufficient.

At that price range - good luck. I would go to yard/garage sales, read local want ads and pray a lot. If you get a scope with it, shake it very hard to see that the cross hairs don't fall off. You MIGHT be able to find a decent 30-30 (an old Marlin 36A maybe?) or a 'sporterized' (read CHOPPED UP) 1903 or 1903A3 with iron sights but don't expect much more unless you get very lucky at a yard sale.

I would avoid the .223 because it isn't legal for big game in all localities. Your price range limits you severly. If I were in your shoes I'd look for a used New England Firearms Handy rifle. They have been made in .270, .243, 7x57, 30-06. All good deer calibers. New they go for just over $200.00, so you should have no problem finding a used one for less than that. You probably won't get a scope without more money. I've seen used Winchester 94's in 30-30 sell below $200.00, look for the ones sold under the Ted Williams (sears) brand name. Another possibility is a 12ga shotgun with slugs if legal in your area. I realize your friends might turn thier noses up at that idea, but my dad sure put alot of venison on our dinner table with one.

Really that hard on that price range ? I was talking to people and they said if im really that interested finding a decent rifle for that price wouldnt be a problem, lol i must of been lied too
. It coming with a scope isnt that big of a deal i guess, i got one i can use and can get one easily. but u guys are saying pretty much no chance for finding one in that range ?0 -
$150 does kinda limit your selection. But it doesn't put you out of the game. If you shop around, your bound to find a used either Marlin or Winchester .30-30win that someone will part with for that. Heck I got mine with some boxes of ammo, and a scope for $125.
If you can't find a .30-30 then your next best choice would be to hit the pawn shops and find one of the millions of sporterized military rifles out there. British 303's and Mausers of all sorts. Be carful of what you get, make sure that you can still get ammo for it. .303brit, 8x57mm, 7x57mm, and 6.5x55swede are fairly readily available in both surplus and market forms. But avoid Carcanos and stuff like that, cause it aint as easy to find.
And if that doesn't work out, you could always go with the reliable old used pump shotgun and some slugs or buckshot.
If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

sporterized military rifles, lol i like the sound of that alot, i own a shotgun and hunting with that is pretty much out of the question, will anyone shine some more light on "sporterized military rifles" for me i know alot about hunting, but not alot about rifles, whats the ammo run on some of these guns, it would be used for alot of target shooting for me, but i just wanna hear more about about these military rifles plz let me in anyone... ?

An SKS with a 4x scope should run you around $150 to $200.
7.62 X 39 is cheap and is a big enough round. Very dependable.

No, i stop using email becuase of porno spam mails, its a bunch of crap. Ive now been thinking about an sks a have a friend who bought one from a local gun dealer here and it only ran him 100 bucks, the only problem is that here the magazine can only be a 5 round, but i hear for sks they make them. As for emailing goes post on board, or if u really want i can fight through the spam
