Simmons Aetec 3.8-12AO

Ordered one today for a friend to put on a 243 Youth Model for his son. I was kind of up against the wall in that I wouldn't let him put a "cheap" scope on it and he didn't want to go the Nikon route. So I gave him what I've heard was a decent scope somewhere between the bargain basement and the kind we'd all like to have on everything we've got. Did I do right or is he going to be upset with old GHD? GHD

  I think you did well in that price range. We have sold quite a few and only had one return and that was mounted on a 300 UltraMag. I have one mounted on a 308 and it has held up for the first 200 rounds just fine.

  GHD, This is one time, when I will have to take acception to my own rule. The Aetecs that I have seen and shot, are great scopes for the money. They are clear, and hold a good zero on magnum rifles. My buddy talked me into one for a rifle that I don't shoot much, but needed a scope for. After I used his several times, I was impressed with the Aetec. Time will tell about how they hold up to recoil, but my friends has seen 300-500rnds of 300WM, and it is still zeroed. I wouldn't want it for long range competition, but hunting to 300yds, it seems to be well worth the money. Just my experience thus far.

  GHD your friend has a good friend,those Simmons Aetec scopes are good in my opinion.Should serve his needs well.I have some Simmons scopes I like,the AEtec should be a descent scope.
