Have you looked maybe into the .376 steyr. I remeber seeing some of the Steyr ProHunter rifles chambered for this in shotgun news for close out prices...

You might also consider maybe a Ruger 77 Action in maybe a 35 whelen.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

The sound of a 12 gauge pump clears a house fatser than Rosie O eats a Big Mac !

    Thanks Lee,
(mind if I call ya Lee?)
I just checked out the steyrs. They look nice. Any experience with
them? I only know them by rep. Do they have any common or recurring
problems? Would you say that when looking at quality made rifles
the only real difference is in how they feel to you, the shooter? I guess I am looking to find any common failings to narrow the search.
    Thanks

Is it a good idea to teach a girlfriend to shoot?

Have you ever CARRIED a Sendero.
    They weigh a TON.
I have a Rem Model 7 in 358 Win with a fiberglass stock and 3X Leupold scope-7 pounds total.
It has killed horses(hurt me badly),coyotes, bobcats, hogs, deer, elk bears.
Best game rifle I have ever owned and is one of the few in my will.

I second the vote for Steyr, but would shy away from the .376 because of ammo costs and availibity ... $24 per 20 rounds and special order (around here at least).

The Pro-Hunter series are excellent, synthetic stock, detachable mag, adjustable trigger, 3 position roller tang safety, smooth bolt operation which incorporates SBS (Safe Bolt System) technology and of course the supurb "Steyr Twist" hammer forged barrel. They are avaiable in 243 Win., 308 Win., 7 mm-08 Rem., 270 Win., 30-06 Spr, 6.5x55 SE, 25-06 Rem., 8x57 JS, 7 mm Rem. Mag. and 300 Win. Mag.

The one I would reccomend is the Pro-Hunter "Mountian" (20" barrel) in .270 Remington for $499 ... CDNN bought GSI's remaining inventory and is closing them out. You can request a catalog online at www.cdnninvestments.com or call 800-588-9500 ... (their on-line sales are for accessories only,) or you can visit their new distrubutors site at www.dnrws.com or the company website at http://www.steyr-mannlicher.com/englishversion/index.htm

The only bad thing about choosing a Kimber ...
... there are so darn many models to choose from!
