I have always found 200 yards to be a good range to zero on. If you know how your gun shoots and the drop of your bullet you can always adjust for any other distance that you need to.

I am 3-3 1/2" high at 100yds. I use the Fed. Prem. 150gr nosler Bal. Tips. I am dead on at 300-330 yds. That sight in, will afford you a good clean shot out to 350yds and only a small holdover at 400. BTW, I am using the exact same gun (SF model) for most of my shooting. Give those fed's a try on paper, I get one hole with them. Your setup is just right for that distance and animal. One thing that helps me with good harvests at 350 yds+ is dialing the power back some. I find that up on 14 and 16 power and up, it shows too much animal and crosshair movement, I dial it back to 10 or 12 power. good luck, send us a picture of the big boy.

A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.
