FN FAL
I need some information on the FN FAL regarding the pricing. I am in a possible trade for a like new Belgian FN FAL with matching numbers on an Imbel reciever. I have about $900 Blue Book Value I am offering for this rifle. What does an FN FAL usually go for about? I have never watched the price of these before so I'm a little lost.
Also what are the questions to ask? Pre ban or post ban? Does this make a difference? IF so how much of a difference? Can I still use 20 round magazines with it? How about a flash suppressor?
I don't mind it being a parts gun, I built my own M1A from parts and I am perfectly happy with it so that doesn't bother me, It's just that I need to know how much and what questions to ask. Thanks to all the experts. You guys have helped me out before.

I've just bought a DSA made FN FAL. Does anyone know of a good aftermarket source of parts such as wood stocks, grips, scope mounts & such. I've found a few good sources but no one that has struck me as outstanding.
I'd like to switch out the plastic for wood and mount a scope. Any suggestions helpful, this is my 1st FAL.0 -
Sounds like an assembeled parts gun due to the Imbel rec'v. There are many parts kits that have been available with matching numbers in the 150-250 range with an Imbel recv for 250-400.
If it is a pre-ban recv, no problem with the para mil accy. If a post-ban recv (probably), flash suppressor would be to many 'evil' features. However, fake flash suppressors and legal muzzle brakes would be ok. Pre-ban, Post-ban issues have been discussed frequently in this forum and I would suggest using the SEARCH feature in the upper right corner.

Right now the market is flooded with surplus FAL's and mainly parts kits here in the US, where we can't import the whole gun. Fortunately, US has a few companies who are making some quality revievers that you can put these parts kits on. And you can have a running gun for way way under $1000, closer to under the $500 range. Don't forget that to be legal, if you order a parts kit, you need to have at least 8 parts replaced with US made parts before the gun is assembled. I don't think anyone's going to know the difference though.
If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.
