The guy I deal with here is as small a shop as Im sure you can have. There are other bigger stores here with more guns and better prices. But I feel comfortable there and I will do business with him as long as he is there. He honest if I ask him about a gun and he doesnt like them even if its more exspensive he will tell me about a different cheaper gun that fits my needs perfectly.I broke the firing pin and a action bar on my Springfield 67 shotgun and he said hang on a minute I got ya.He fixed it on the spot for free.Ever since he has had all my business.

i'd love to support my local dealer, but they are so rude and the prices are way out of line. i do have a local gun smith that i deal with and he's also grumpy and slow, but i love his work and keep spending money with him.

I buy some things from catalogs, some collector ammo at auction, but more than 50% of my purchases are with proprietary firearms dealers. Some of these folks are more eccentric than I (quite a feat!), but it enhances the experience and usually they give you *great* service if not the best prices. Capsized a canoe during duck season. Shotgun spent 30 minutes totally immersed. Took it to my dealer / gunsmith and it was given top priority, stripped down, dried out and completely ready for the next day's hunt.

This Topic would be better served in the general Discussion Forums...
