Personally I think you pretty much get what you pay for. I'd avoid parts guns that you didn't make. But overall the FAL design is a very good one, and like the AR, I really don't think there are any bad ones. I wouldn't go out and spend $1000 on a DSA, but I'm sure that you could research and assemble your own for under $500, and have a reliable battle field ready gun.

I should also mention, that there were many countries that made many different variations of the FAL design, so you should definatly research into which parts your getting and what reciever you need for those parts.

A really good FAL resouce I've found is www.tapco.com . You can call them, and they seem to be very knowledgable about the FAL variations, and what parts you need. They also keep a huge stock of inidivual FAL parts far all different variations. I swear they must have 20 different safety/mode selector levers alone.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

    I disagree with LBM again.
I have several FALs built on Imbels and 2 built onDSAs
    Even a Coonan.
They were built by me or acquaintences.
They all go bang and shoot into 4 MOA at 200 meters with iron sites.
Stay away from Hesse and Williams receivers and you will be OK.
You can build a nice FAL right now for $425.
