1887 Pistol-Can anyone clue me in?

I am unable to determine the manufacturer of my ancient pistol! It is a 32-caliber 8-shot with a hex barrel. Marked on the top of the frame "safety hammer double action". Marked on the hammer "patented April 6, 1887" If anyone can offer any any information, I would be most appreciative! Thanks. Bill

  Are there any symbols on the gun? Maybe on the grip. Also, is the
  barrel hex or octagon?
