Colt U.S. serial #402708
I saw this at a local shop today and am looking for some info. The finish is a little differend between the slide and the frame(blue frame/greenish blue slide). There is no # on the slide - but my question is where would I look inside for a matching #. I am guessing this was made around 1918. There is a symbol and "S.6" or "S.A." over the mag release button. There is no # or letters on the magazine. Manufactured Colt's P.T.F.A. MFG Co. Hartford. US Property on Right side of slide. Thanks for any info - oh, this has some wear but looks to be about 90-95%.

I don't think the slides were serial numbered.
According to last years Blue Book, all 1912-1925 military
1911's were blue finish only. "Those pistols with a parkerized finish will indicate post-WWII reworking, usually marked with an arsenal code (ie. AA- AgustaArsenal, SA- Springfield Arsenal, etc.). These reworks do not have the same values as original, unaltered specimens and prices generally are in the $325-$550 range." You are right on the year
of manufacture, by the serial number it is 1918.
