FN 49 select fire?

Im looking at a FN 49, average used condition. the owner says that he has the select fire parts set for that rifle also. Ive never seen one with select fire, did they make many? how much, if any, does this raise the value? help is greatly appriciated.....dr.dirt

  FN-49 Pricing is all over the place. Caliber, import marks, etc. Never saw one for $ 125.00. Average, wild guess...$300.00 plus for non import and matching numbers. Think again about select fire parts!
  Do you have a license to manufacture plus a machine gun license? Do not walk, run away from this item. Be very afraid! I would not touch this item, period. Can not answer your other questions. 101

  101airbourne is right. BATF just LOVES to make stings this way, especially if they think you might know sombody they're after. That's what happened to Randy Weaver. Don't touch this firearm and you don't know the guy who offered it to you any more either. If you're smart, he just became nonexistant in your life. If he's not working for the BATF now, he will be soon, or he'll be in jail; thier option. He's trouble.

  Most semi-auto versions of guns for which there is a full-auto version cannot be converted to full-auto simply by substitution of a few parts. There are basic differences in the receivers that prevent this. So, for these guns, a "select fire kit" is worthless.
  
  There are a FEW legal semi-autos that can be converted to full-auto by means of a parts kit. For THESE guns, mere possession of an unregistered complete parts kit (even without a gun) is considered possession of an illegal machine gun, and is good for time in a federal prison. Obviously, you need to avoid these.
  
  In any case, local police and ATF don't really care whether or not a "select fire kit" really works or not; you can be arrested, you can have your guns confiscated, and you will have to pay an attorney to defend you in court. Hardly seems worth the risk.

  Anyone ever seen a hi-cap magazine for an FN-49? I haven't. Mine only has a 10-rounder. What good is select fire with a ten round mag. and a big, heavy recoiling caliber? Legalities notwithstanding, what's the point?
