Ruger Blackhawk "Liberty"
I just took in a Blackhawk "Liberty' in on trade and am trying to determine value. I is a 45LC./45ACP.The barrel is 4 7/8" to the cylinder. I couldn't find it inn my books. Any Help? P.S. I have been deleted so I want to be clear. This gun is not for sale on this forum. Thanks.

I guess by a "Liberty" you mean one of the ones made in 1976, "the 200th Year of American Liberty"--which makes it a New Model, as mfg. of these started in 1973. The Liberty marking is usually worth an additional 10%, but 10% added to what is hard to say, as you didn't give us the gun's condition. Let's go with 95%, which would make the base value about $250+$25=$275. I'll bet a careful remeasurement of the barrel will give you 4 5/8". The gun in this configuration was discontinued for several years, but was reintroduced in 1999 and is currently available--without the "Liberty" marking, of course. 0 -
Yes it is the 76 ed. The barrel has been checked at least 5 times and is 4 7/8" that's what has thown me off. the Standard Catalogue of Firearms lists the 4 5/8" Liberty at 100% over normal and 95% would be about right. 0 -
If the barrel really measures 4 7/8" it has probably been cut and the sight replaced. Any "liberty" premium would disapppear. 0 -

If you recheck the barrel length based on distance from end of barrel to forcing cone, it is probably a 5 1/2" length. Agree with value range others have given.

Piadea, there is no way to cut anything off a 4 5/8" barrel and come up with a 4 7/8" barrel. Likely it is a problem of where to measure from. 0 -

OK Guys,
I just took my Old Model Blackhawk out of the safe to measure it. I took the cylinder out and measured the barrel from one end to the other. It measures just about 4 11/16 inches.
Ruger calls it a 4 5/8" model.
According to a 1976 Shooters Bible, Ruger made the 45/45ACP Blackhawk in 4 5/8" and 7 1/2" models only.
The other calibers featured the 4 5/8" and the 6 1/2" except for the 44 mag. and the 30 carbine, that was 7 1/2" only.
That was for the 1976 year production.
