    Something is amiss - a 470xxx 73 winchester was made in 1894. A factory letter is very important to establish a pedigree.

    Andy,
    Welcome aboard Paisan. Coma sta? You'll have to tell me what part of Italy you're from. I still have family there.

    Now to your question. We have a place here in the States known as the Buffalo Bill Historical Center and the Cody Firearms Museum.
    They can give you what is called a Factory Letter for that rifle, but it costs $55.00.

    At one time, I used to be able to get the information on the phone for free, then if I wanted the letter I would buy it. If the gun is original and unaltered, and it letters to the fact that it was shipped to Wells Fargo, you have a valuable gun there. It would be worth the money to have a Factory Letter to document it when and if you decide to sell it.

    Your rifle was in fact made in 1894. The 1884 number may refer to a patent date. In 1884, it was first offered in 22 caliber.

    This is some info to get you started:

    Cody Firearms Museum Records Dept.
    Buffalo Bill Historical Center
    720 Sheridan Ave.
    Cody, Wy 82414

    Contact person;

    Let me know how you make out. If you can, send me a picture of it.

    Ciao
