300WSM
I recently bought a Browning Stainless Stalker in 300WSM. I am just interested in what others have to say about this calliber and this gun.

Brownings a reputable company, makes high quality firearms. The A-Bolt design is excellent. The 300wsm is a great cartridge, one of the growing trend of short fat cased cartridges. If you got the BOSS system, makes things really nice. I'd advise investing in at least one box of every brand of ammunition you can find, and see which one groups the best, otherwise I'd handload. And be sure to break in that barrel properly. Also don't forget that Stainless does rust, though it takes longer. If you plan on getting it wet, get some silicon or some poly clear coat spay paint and put a good coating on the outside.
And one last thing, a cheap scope and/or cheap ammo in a top of the line rifle, makes for a cheap shot.
If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

I know its a good gun I think it will stay around, probably more likely to than the REM300 ultra mag. Its simpler and cheaper to reload if you reload your own shells.

Simpler to reload? They are the same to reload, one just has more powder than the other. The 300WSM will probably last in the market. I have a friend who put a custom barrel on a mod 70 in 300WSM and is getting great groups with it at 300yds, you have a good caliber.
A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.0 -
I should have been more specific cheaper to me is simpler because it takes less powder.I also heard you could reload the winchester caseing more because the Ultra Mag was bad to crack at the neck, but I dont know for a fact that is true.

The wsm is a good cartrige but the browning a-bolt is JUNK. Bought one last year and it grouped terribly. The setbacks of the wsm are recoil, ammo selection, avaliablity, and price. If you reload, better load a bunch before any trips out of town. Unlike the 06, you cant find them just anywhere. All the factory ammo I have seen is priced around thirty bucks a box. Now back to the rifle. I sold mine this year in favor of a tikka in 30-06. The ammo is easy to find, cheap, and the 06 can kill anything that walks the northamerican continent. The wsm kicked like hell in the a-bolt I had. The stock doesnt have a raised cheekpiece so you cant get your face against it properly. When you do shoot make darn sure you dont crowd the scope. Mine cut me twice. The trigger on the a-bolt sucked as well. Now the tikka I just bought is a great rifle. Very accurate, and it feelsgreat to shoot. So enjoy your junk gun. If tikka made a wsm and the ammo prices got down about ten bucks I might buy another one but till then I'll stick with my 06.
