Does anyone have a walther P22 or the 9mm version

How does this pistol function and was it worth the money? Please specify what caliber you are refering to. Thanks for your time and effort. _-QuickSLVR982-_

While I do not have a P22, I just finished researching it as I bought a .22 semi-auto earlier this week. I chose not to get a P22 because of the numerous negative reviews I found from people who have tested it or who own it. Many articles on the net talk of how it jams, misfeeds rounds, etc. during the break in period and it is supposedly fussy about what type of ammo you use. It's also supposed to be for small to medium sized hands only, according to these same reviewers. The consensus seemed to be that the P22 was a great gun for a small handed person when it actually works, often after a couple of repairs and while using only it's preferred ammo types.

Once again, I have no personal experience with it, and have only gathered this as a consensus of about 15 - 20 reviews and posts at various other online forums.

So many guns, so little money . . .

The P22 is a completely different item from the 9mm Walther (P99?) / S&W 99 semi-auto. The former is also available as a pellet gun and is considerably smaller than the latter, which I have in the 40S&W version; other than the manufacturer and materials, the two have nothing in common.

I've put over 500 rounds of various ammo brands thru my P22 (long-barrel target model) with no jams or misfeeds. At 25 yards & using a two-hand grip (the gun is small in my hands; I hook my little finger under the magazine) I can consistently shoot 1-1/2" groups with Winchester silver box standard ammo.

I think about all Walthers are of high quality.My neighbor Bought a P-1 9mm. It came with a Military style holster,extra clip and cleaning kit.It cost him less than $320.00 Dollars,I fell in love with it when he brought it to show me.I have one ordered should be here anytime.It appears to be a well worth the money gun.

Got a P22 last weekend and took it to the range. It did jamb a few times and I am not sure if it's the cheap Wallmart Federal stuff or just the plain ole new semi break in period, or both. Yes, it's got a small grip even with the larger backstrap installed (comes with two). I am a big guy with big hands, but because it's just a 22lr, it's no big deal for me, I too just slip my pinky under the mag. My wife loves it and I am sure my kids will also as soon as I take them to the range. I bought it for them anyway. I got mine for $225 NIB out the door and feel I got a good deal because it's worth more to me than that. GD

Damn, gundummy. $225 out the door, NIB? That's a pretty sweet deal. Around here they show up for $350+, + tax. I'd definately buy one if I spotted a deal like that.

I have to tell ya, I have extensively fired both the S&W 99 and
the Walther p-22 and they are now 2 of my favorite guns. The
sw99 was in .40. While they don't share a great deal in common, the
22 is like a smaller version of the 9 and .40. I fired several
(5 or 6) different brands and grades of ammo in both the .22 and the .40 and had no problems at all. I also have fairly large hands, but did not find the .22 to be uncomfortable when using the magazine with the grip extension.
I think they are exceptionally fun guns and reasonably accurate. I was just plinking with the .22, but have had 2" groups at approx. 30 yards with the .40.

Shot my P-22 the other day and was extremely pleased with it. No jams and quite accurate for such a small gun. I would recommend one to anybody on the market. Can't beat the price either. I paid $245 for mine..

Yes, I did get a sweet deal. I now regret just buying one at that price. I was not sure about it because it's rather new and wanted to see how it performed. I like what I see now, but I can't get it at that price anymore because they can't keep it in stock now and they are selling it for $270 plus tax when they get one. I've 2nd guessed some of my purchases, but there are no regrets on this one. We love it. GD

RE:P22>went to the gun store in April w/ wife to pick-up my CZ 52, P22 was on the counter . She said " how cute> how much "? He said $ 222" out the door ". We have had no problems and find it a fun gun to shoot with big hands and she likes it too!

i shot the pellet gun and man is that thing a blast! i'm guessing it was the cheap federal ammo. i bought a 500 round box of fed ammo and got about 200 jams with my 10/22. nothin makes me madder than spending half of my day pulling jammed shells!!!! spend a little more and enjoy better quality shooting, it's worth it.
