I've always liked the looks of this rifle. Anyone have one??? How do they shoot? Would the 35 be the best cal to have.

[V] Don't even think about it !!! The 81 can not handle the pressure of the .308 Win . Plus the action and magazine will be too short and it would kick the bejesus out of you . The 81 in 300 Sav. has pretty good resale value , if in decent shape . Sell it and buy a .308 , That is my humble opinion and advice .

first you would need a new barrel, I don't believe a .308 reamer will 'clean up' a .300 savage chamber. best leave it as/is. (you realy would'nt be gaining much anyway)

+1 other then selection of factory loads the .300 savage is very close to .308 performance
