Need gunsmithing advises.
I am make a custom mauser in the 308 win. out of a Yugo M48(bought two u-fix-em for CIA), it will have a 24" bull barrel, bold trigger with safety and place in a laminated birch stock. But I am confuse as to the bolt shroud, scope mount and spring/firing pin kit to get for this mauser. I understand this a large ring action, but the length is of a small ring mauser like the M96. Go figured? Can any gunsmith out there can help me out on this one? I am having a local gunsmith put the barrel and scope mounts on for me, then I am shipping it out to have it parkerized. Also I understand that I am spending more money then buying a new factory rifle. I just have a extra action and some extra cash around to play with.
TIA

The diamater of the forward reciver ring and the diameter of the barrel, determines whether it is a large or small ring recivier.
The large ring comes it several different lengths. The shroud is smooth when commerial. If you use a trigger locking safety you can cut weld grind the mil to look smooth, or buy an aftermarket smooth shroud.

I am looking for aftermarket parts for this project. So I was wondering if parts for the M98 will work. I know that the length is shorter then the M98, so I was a little worry of finding parts.

any part for a standard m-98 will fit on your rifle except the firing pin; bolt shroud, triggers, safties, ect.(you have to have a shorter f. pin). 0 -
ok, for the bolt shroud and the firing pin kit, will a aftermarket for M96 will work? As for the rest, I understand.
Thanks

NOPE, M-96 IS DIFFERENT AND WILL NOT FIT. YOU HAVE TO USE M-98 PARTS. THIS SHOULD BE A COCK ON OPEN SO ALL YOU NEED IS AN ADJUSTABLE TRIGGER. 0 -
Maybe you don't need to worry about the firing pin. Unless it has a real problem, the original is ok. A good smith can replicate the pin or another used found. If you want a titanium that would be a problem.
