make a pistol rest?
I'd rather not spend the money for a commercial barrel rest if a cheap one can be made. I wouldn't use it that much, just to sight in and see where various loads hit, etc. As long as the thing stays put and can be adjusted vertically, it's good enough for me. I'm also handy with wood and metal and have the tools.
Anyone ever do this, or have you seen one? Do you have a photograph or description of it? I have a few ideas, but would be interested in others. As always, I appreciate the help.

If you can make one thats the way to go but if not check Midways Pistelro out.I bought one about three years ago,and it is one of the best investments for handgun shooting I have made.
Good Luck.

The right sized wide piece of PVC pipe, with a U cut in the top and a right sized sandbag stuffed in it works fine.
If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

Take a piece of carpet, roll and tape it; works fine.

There are plans for an adjustable rifle rest in the book "the Shooters
Workbench" by John Mosher. Should be able to modify them for a pistol rest.

I made one that I like. If you will send your email address I will send you a picture of it. Robert 0 -
Thanks, rhmc. I'll give you my email address, but the picture would have to be sent as an attachment of some sort. I don't know much about computer software, but I know that my email program can't display a picture file.
Here's the address: awilliam@bright.net0 -
If yu are handy with wood and metal take you a pece of 2x4 cut it to the desired lentgh buy 4 fat L brackets screw one in each corner for feet to add stability and take a router or jigsaw and cut you out a thin groove big enough for the barrel. They work pretty good.
