1911 grip bushings thread/pitch
I bought a PAC 1911A1 which has "fat" grip screws which attach the the frame directly instead of using the GI style bushings.
These screws are smaller than the 1911 GI bushings and centered in the same location. I'd like to ream and tap the frame to accept the proper bushings, but I do not know the thread and pitch of the GI style. It looks like 1/4 inch diameter.
Anyone help here?
thanks

Plautus,
A suggestion would be to look at Brownells. They make them in standard
and oversize. Drill size is 7/32". www.brownells.com

o.k. :
grip screws are .150 - 50 tpi
standard bushings are .236 - 60 tpi oversized bushings are .255 - 60
in most cases, the .255x60 (oversize) tap will retap (rethread) a
stripped standard bushing hole with-out redrilling...if you need to
retap , good luck finding a tap , unless you order it from "brownells"
or another "gunsmithing" supply source........
Good Luck !!!!!!!!!!!

Plautus,
GLAD TO SEE THAT YOU RECEIVED THE INFO THAT YOU WERE LOOKINF FOR.
AZ GAVE YOU THE PRIME INFO. BROWNELLS IS ONE QUALITY SUPPLIER.
SUGGEST THAT YOU DELETE THIS POST. BEST, STEVE0 -
Update-
Got a titantium 7/32 bit and a the tap from Brownell's and the operation went just FINE!
I set my drill to max at 1000 rpm and used lots of drilling oil on the holes. I'd recommend using a drill press just to be safe, but I did it by hand and it was fine. If you've got a steady hand, you can do it this way.
I like my PAC 1911 a lot and now it's closer to perfection.
Thanks for the info, folks.
