Shotgun choke question?

    Don't know about the gun you have but I always use a 50% choke on my gun for trap. Modified or improved should be enough in any case, full if you are shooting at the 28 yard position. Of course, if it comes with trap/skeet chokes, those are best.

    TRAP.= FULL
    SKEET= IMP CYLINDER
    S CLAYS WOULD DEPEND WHICH STATION YOU ARE SHOOTING. FULL TO IC. HOPE THIS HELPS. I HAVE ONLY BEEN AT THIS 51 YEARS.

    I WOULD RATHER BE DUCK HUNTING.

    Hmm. Interesting Duckhunter. I had a guy who has been shooting trap about as long as you tell me full choke was overkill at the 16 yard standard position and I would be handicapping myself. So the answer is- what works for you is best.

    I did not like my SBE chokes, so I bought briley chokes for it with much better patterns.

    As for chokes for sixteen yard straight trap: Full choke will dust them when you are right on them. Modified will break them but will leave large chunks if you are doing a chip shoot. Most serious trap shooters where I shoot use the full choke.

    You Benelli boys like to spend money. First they pay for a cheaply made gun that has problems...pattern, ejection, etc. And don't get 'em dirty or wet what ever you do. Then they buy aftermarket accessories & gunsmithing to fix 'em. In 15 yrs. there will be Benelli "parts guns" everywhere. Just my 2 cents.

    I had one...worst shooting $1000+ gun ever. She's long gone. Browning forever!

    America...Bless God.

    My general hit rate using my Baikal single shot with trap and a modified choke is about 85%. Now you have my curiosity piqued; I am going to try the full choke.

    I think Improved cylinder,I love to shoot skeet as often as I can.My Beretta Skeet gun came with a choke marked skeet,and an improved cylinder as well as a few more.I do better with the IC choke than the choke marked skeet.Has any one else encountered this as well?

    Best!!

    bbq05: I said I did not like the choke tubes. The gun has worked flawlessly with every round I have put into it. From shoulder kicking 3.5 rounds to light trap rounds. I have never seen another shotgun handle the range of loads this SBE will work with.

    Trap; 16yd - Full or Mod (or Imp Mod) your choice. Full hits harder, Mod a little more forgiving. Handicap - definitely full.

    Skeet; Skeet or IC. Best Skeet

    Clays: Skeet to Full depending on station. Mod is probably best compromise all round, but it will cost you birds (rabbits) With chokes you should use what the station calls for and change when necessary. Mod/IC is a Decent O/U combination if you are committed to fixed chokes.

    I may as well confuse the guy some more. Shooting trap I used
    Briley light modified (15 thousands constriction), on 27 yard handicap
    I used Briley modified (20 thousands constriction)
    Results...was class AA and 27 yard handicap until medical problems
    forced me to quit.
