    GHD,

I checked with them about an old scope that I had. From what
they sent me, they do not honor the service on the old ones. They
will give you a trade-in value on a new scope from the factory. I think the amount for mine was 25.00 towards the RETAIL cost of their scope. I decided I could buy a replacement scope cheaper elsewhere.

Ive had good luck with the more expensive Simmons scopes, and if you like Tasco.Got a news letter yesterday they are going out of business and they have been liquadating. So their should be some grest deals. The company is for sale so some one will buy it and make good scopes.

    Best!!

Bama55, I got about the same info when I called this AM. No warranty work on old Redfields! Have to send them either to a repair place in OK (that one is closed for the whole month of July) or to a repair shop in Fla. The guy from Redfield said he would recommend the OK shop over the Fla. shop. Don't really need the scope today but always nice to have a good extra scope in the safe! GHD

I had an older 3-9-40 tracker that went haywire so I got a hold of Redfield. They sent me a price sheet of their scopes and what it would cost me plus my old one. Got a 2-7-40 lo profile for $86 and the old. Sell for about $240 in redhead book. Don"t know if they are still doing the trade in deal or not. The address is Attn. Technical Services 201 Plantation Oak DR. Thomasville Ga. 31792. 1.800.285.0689

    GHD,

Did they give you an estimate on costs, or just send it and
    see what they say?

    GHD,
I would be kind of leary of sending the scope to an independent repair shop unless they tell you right up front what the total cost of repairs will be. I know this, because I've had an experience with some shop down in Florida and they wanted the scope, plus like 40 bucks up front to tell me what was wrong with it. That way they have you buy the bells. They got your scope and the 40 bucks. now what are you going to do?
If Redfield can't give you a good deal, I would put my money into a detter scope.

I saw an ad in shotgun news that said "we honor Redfield lifetime warranty". I don't know what that really means. It was a private scope repair shop.

bama, bullelk and Mobuck, No they didn't even venture and estimate. I won't send the scope without some assurance of what it will cost and mobuck, send me the address of that company if you can find it. I don't get SNews. If I can't get it fixed reasonable I'll trash it and get another Nikon, Leupold or Burris!! I wouldn't think those 3 are going out very soon!!! But then again, this scope was bought in 1977, has been on no less than 5 rifles and all our pickups couldn't haul the animals that have been looked at while they were air-mailed they're invitation home!!! GHD PS Anybody need a 6x18 Redfield? Perfect except the AO doesn't work anymore!

    GHD,
Try to get a demo on the new Zeiss Conquest, you'll be surprised. It's one hell of a scope. You can get them for as low as $399.00

Mobuck and Bullelk, Talked with a service Rep today and they are sending me some info on the trade! They tell me they'll send me a Redfield 6x18 Golden 5 star for 103.00 !!!! I'll probably do that if that's really what they want!! 25 years of use and I think I gave dealer's price in 1977 which was about 86.00!!! That's only about 3.44/year for the scope use!! I'll take their trade and hope the next one lasts that long, then I'll will it to a descendant!!! GHD

    GHD,
I thought you might like to know. My cost on a Redfield Golden 5 Star
6-18x40 is $244.90. I'd say they are using you alright. Good luck with your new scope.
