    Jgreen-I don't know about a website.....seems like there is one for everything. July, 1962 seems like a pretty good bet on the date of manufacture though--the reason being that during the late 40's and early 50's Germany was an occupied country and not permitted to manufacture small arms. The P-1 was made by Manurhin of France for the West Germans during those years, and production was not resumed by Walther until West Germany again became a sovereign nation. Even then, the early ones were Manurhin parts assembled by and stamped with the Walther name. Germany had become independent again by '62, so that is likely the mfg. date. I am not familiar with the hexagon marking you have described--it is not a standard proof mark used by either West Germany or France. It may well be a property marking of a German State or Unit.
