Have someone that wants to trade me a model 54 carbine for one of my Colt Series 70 Gold Cups (unfired 100% condition, made 1974). Im not familiar with the Winchester enough to make a decision...his rifle is in what I would consider about 70-75% condition...stock has several dings from use, but no cracks, blue is worn off in many locations leaving a grey colored finish on a lot of the metal. sights are present, has been drilled and tapped with weaver bases installed. no pitting in the metal that i can see...any input would be appreciated...date of manufacture is supposed to be 1931.

Blue book on Winchester Bodel 54 Carbine 80%=$500, 70%=$400.

Blue Book on Colt Series 70 Gold Cup National Match 100%=$1150

I think I'd want a little more on your end of the trade...
I'd have to pass on that deal.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

At this time I think your colt is worth more. The price on them is just amazing right now. If you want one of these winchseter sports sell the colt and buy a better one. However the winchester in better original condition will bring the price of you colt I THINK. Just my thoughts.

thanks, this is what i thought too...dont have a blue book but had looked at several of the Winchesters on this site and another...i found them ranging from the mid 400's to over 1500, all depending on condition (and sellers expectations of course)...thank you for your input guys...
