I have a couple of Remington 5mms.Just curious as to how many fps the 38gr. rounds were listed at Thanks,Vernon 0 -
Welcome aboard Dave,as for your question I cant answer entirely there are no demand for the 5mm as you cant find Ammo for it.I would say your guns are worth $350.00-$400.00.There is one for sale here in VA. that has been for sale for several weeks at $400.00 and he hasnt sold it.But there may be some collectors that would pay you much more.If Im wrong some of the other guys will correct me,but I think Im pretty close.
Once again welcome aboard!!

If you are referring to the 5mm Remington Mag rimfire, Old Western Scrounger usually has it for around 19.95 for 50.
Hope this helps0 -
I should have included the site:

Blue book is as follows:
Remington 591, Bolt Action, 5mm Rem Mag, 24" brrl, open sights, 5 shot mag, Mante Carlo Stock. Approx 27,000 made between 1970-74.
100%=$175, 98%=$125, 95%=$100
Remington 592, same as 591 but with tube mag. 25,000 made between 1970-74. Same price value.
If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

Rsnyder is correct about the Old Western Scrounger, but he does not have the 5mm ammo yet. He is waiting on incoming orders to place a 1-5 million round order from Aguilia, a south American ammo maker. I have had (5) boxes on order for 6 months!! 0 -
Well It's now March of 2004, and I'm still waiting for my 5mm ammo from OWS. They say they may be able to place an order this fall, but are only at about 700,000 rds ordered. Converting to a centerfire 5mm is still the best way to keep your 591 or 592 from becoming a "Wall-Hanger"
I posted the info for Schroeder Mfg. in a post above.

Good luck with the OLD WESTERN SCOUNDREL, he's been running his mouth for awhile with the overseas 5mm order. It was rotten trick to get 5mm fans hopes up, I know this because 2 years ago I heard the same spiel. I converted my 591's to center fire and haven't looked back since, the only trouble is soft brass and big fingers. It's hard to reload if you don't have a fine touch and big fingers. My 2 cents, good luck though. 0 -
I`ve had several boxes on order for over a year. 0 -
I have MANY 591's and 592's and quite a bit of ammo - I really like the round. But that was not the question. 591's are a little less expensive than the 592's. 591's NIB bring up to $500, 592's $525. No box and 98% averages at $150 & $175 respectively. And I have seen them go cheaper.... A few for a few bucks more. I have paid these prices for parts guns at times. Ammo is another story. I recently sold 30 boxes between $55 and $60 per box + shipping. That is a "fair" price in today's market. It can still be had and people have it squirreled away...
The 5MM from OWS has been promised for YEARS. At $19.95/box. But remember, IF it ever gets made, it WILL NOT BE AT THE SAME PRESSURES and VELOCITIES of Rem 5MM - probably because of product liability laws etc. But I will still want to get some IF any is ever made.
Good luck with your 5MM's they were/are a gun ahead of their time...Just my opinion[8D]0 -
Old Western Scrounger (or others) have been promising that there will be new run of 5mm ammo for what seems like a decade now. I know the rumor has been going around for at least 4-5 years anyway. I have never seen any, nor heard of anyone actually getting any (new production) in all that time. I was offered a few boxes of the original Remington 2 years ago. I wasn't real excited about the price, but as it has continued to get harder and harder to find and more expensive, so I bought some. I have 2 maybe 3 boxes still available for sale at this time.
