what round for CETME?
I just bought a Century Arms CETME and am confused on what rounds to shoot. I downloaded the manual and it says .308 Winchester but 7.62(.308) is stamped on the reciever of the rifle. I've read about the 7.62 and the .308Winchester rounds being different in brass thickness. This is probably a stupid question but I just want to be safe in shooting the rifle.

Nope, they are they are the same. You can shoot .308win. But I'm sure the gun was designed to shoot the 150gr .308win ammo cause thats what Nato spec ammo is.
As far as case thickness, you'll find different thicknesses, and even harnesses varying in every different brand you buy. But I assure you that its all within SAAMI specs.
You can usually find cheap south african or other surplus military .308win (7.62x51mm Nato) ammo pretty cheap. You may look into it for plinking around.
If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

chris35,
My friends that own CETMEs shoot the same milsurp .762NATO ammo that we also shoot in our FALs and M1A/M14 rifles. I have had good luck with both the Portugese and South African surplus; and have a couple of sealed cases, just in case.

Thanks for the info on the surplus rounds. I was planning on going with either the Portug. or South African 7.62 but didn't want to order until I knew it was safe. Now I know so thanks for the advice. 0
