I have a Glock 23 and it's a fine shooter. It may not be your cup of tea. If you can shoot one before you decide, you'll be better informed. Some people like Glocks and others just don't care much for them.

I carried a Glock 23 until the Glock 27 came out. Been carrying it ever since. I don't like -C compensatated guns of any kind. A personal thing. The more simple the better for me.

I have had a Glock 23 for over five years. It has proven to be a reliable firearm and accurate enough for it's intended purpose. I have fired a G23C but was not real impressed with the difference. In low light there was too much flash with the ammo we were using. I am sure that can be overcome with other ammo. As someone else said, shoot one if you can before you buy one...

For all sorts of goodies and accessories to deck out your Glock and to find those aftermarket barrels you were asking about, check out www.topglock.com

They have all sorts of package deals depending upon what you are looking to do with your Glock (i.e. competition, SWAT, personal defence etc...). Apparently this site also sells flash suppressors for Glocks with threaded barrels. Why would you put a flash suppressor on a Glock?

Listen to these guys. My buddy bought one before he even tried it.
He admits that if he held and shot it first, he would not have bought it. What was worse was the gun shop did not even have that model in stock, only the full size, and they told him to just get the compact 23. They ordered it, he bought it, and now is looking to get something else, like a Sig, because he does not care for the Glock.
So try it first before you decide. In his case, it just did not fit his hands properly. As far as reliability, Glocks are one of the best, so you won't go wrong if you are looking for that.
Personally, I would not get it ported. I've shot both and really can't tell the difference, except getting more flash in lower light as previously mentioned. If I had to shoot someone in low light, I want to be able to see if I did if fact hit the target and not be blinded temporarily so the bad guy gets a shot at me. You'll get alot of flash, especially from a compact like that. GD

I own a 23 and have shot the 23c - No big difference in recoil and personally I would like the flash coming out of the front of the gun -not the top.

very loud because of the comp, might go with the model 23. For concealed carry a lot of the problems, maybe 75%, maybe more , will be at night. With the comp, you'll have to let your eyes adjust to resight. Unless you can shoot like Chuck Conners in the rifleman!!! Anyone else ever seen that show??

New gun??? No, honey, I've had it for years.
