I own a couple of marlin 336cs one is the 30-30 and the other is a 35 Rem.I always see them advertise their Micro Groove Rifling.And my Marlin out shoots my Winchester big time what is Micro groove rifling.

  marlin microgrooved barrels come with more grooves(12 to 20) of rifling than most other guns. look down your barrel with a bore lite to demonstrate. i believe the grooves are also of a smaller diameter then in most other rifles. check out www.marlinfirearms.com for a more tecnical answer.
  
  they also state that microgroove barrels cause less distortion of the bullet and a better gas seal.
